Graphic Design for Exhibitions

As a graphic designer at the National Portrait Gallery, I find solutions that activate our collection for our visitors. I collaborate with my colleagues in the Curatorial and Audience Engagement departments to identify key ideas and find the best ways to communicate them to a wide audience.

Together, we translate images, text, and physical and digital spaces into experiences that share the stories of individuals who shaped America.

1898 examined the War of 1898 (often called the Spanish-American War), the Congressional Joint Resolution to annex Hawai‘i, the Philippine-American War, and the legacy of this controversial chapter in history.

Digital Content

While working in the Luce Foundation center at SAAM, my responsibilities included the production and maintenance of web content. I created calendar listings, wrote blog posts, and created digital programming pages using the Drupal content management system.

I supported SAAM’s Web and Digital Products Lead as she worked to make our website more accessible and more useful to visitors and researchers. I provided insight from my conversations with visitors, collaborated on layout designs, and created iconography for implementation in the interface.

Illustration

I illustrate for a craft hot sauce company and a local brewery. I also create repeat patterns for print-on-demand textiles.
